Chittoor — bringing AI-powered healthcare to Andhra Pradesh

The Government of Andhra Pradesh's vision for healthcare transformation, operationalised as Sanjeevani — a next-generation DiNC deployment beginning in Kuppam constituency and expanding across the entire Chittoor district. Built on the proven Bridgital model, Sanjeevani introduces AI-ambient intelligence, dynamic wellness tracking, and full 12-service CPHC delivery for the first time in India's public health system.

District Overview

Chittoor — a largely
rural district at
the tri-state
crossroads

Chittoor district, constituted on 1 April 1911, sits at the meeting point of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka — a geographic position that has shaped its demographics, migration patterns, and healthcare challenges. After administrative reorganisation in 2022 and 2025, the current district spans 6,855 sq km with a population of approximately 18.7 lakh across 31 mandals and 822 revenue villages. Kuppam, in the western part of the district, is among its most prominent towns.

The district is predominantly rural — 70% of its population lives outside urban centres — and has historically faced a concentration of healthcare infrastructure in larger towns. Healthcare access has been further complicated by seasonal agricultural labour migration, hilly terrain in the western mandals (including around Kuppam and Madanapalle), and a high prevalence of NCDs including hypertension and diabetes. The literacy rate stands at 72.4%.

Introducing Sanjeevani

The next evolution
of DiNC
— built for
Andhra Pradesh

Sanjeevani is the name given to the DiNC deployment in Andhra Pradesh — reflecting the state government's vision of a healthcare system that is truly life-giving for every citizen. It builds on the proven Bridgital model from Kolar but goes further, incorporating AI-powered clinical tools, full 12-service CPHC coverage aligned with Ayushman Bharat, and deeper integration with AP's digital health infrastructure including ABHA IDs, e-Aushadhi, and the NTR Vaidya Seva scheme.

Announced by the Honourable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh following discussions with Tata Group Chairman in November 2024, Sanjeevani is central to the state's Swarna Andhra @2047 vision — transforming the public health system from episodic and reactive to connected, continuous, proactive, and patient-centric care. Gates Foundation serves as the knowledge partner.

AI & Technology Innovations

Sanjeevani's next-
generation
capabilities

Sanjeevani represents a significant technology step-change over earlier DiNC deployments — incorporating AI tools purpose-built for India's public health context.
ai Notes

AI Ambient Listening

Ambient listening enabled for Medical Officers across all 13 PHCs in Kuppam. The model is being trained on Telugu and local dialects in real public health consultation environments — generating structured clinical notes automatically and reducing documentation burden on doctors, freeing time for patient care.

ai Meter

AI-Powered NCD Care & True Wellness Score

Every NCD patient receives a personalised AI-driven care plan and a dynamic True Wellness Score that tracks progress at each milestone — motivating adherence and enabling clinical teams to prioritise deteriorating patients proactively, before they escalate to secondary care.

Healthcare

Full 12-Service CPHC Platform

Sanjeevani is the first DiNC deployment to offer all 12 Comprehensive Primary Health Care services as envisaged under Ayushman Bharat — covering pregnancy, neonatal and child health, immunisation, family planning, NCDs, mental health, TB, ophthalmology, oral health, elderly care, and emergency services on a single integrated platform.

ecosystem

Digital Health Ecosystem Integration

Sanjeevani integrates with the national ABHA health ID system, e-Aushadhi pharmacy (API integration completed), and the NTR Vaidya Seva scheme for public-private linkage. ABDM-compliant hospitals can receive electronic referrals and share interoperable patient records, ensuring continuity of care across public and private sectors.
